Endo on House

In case you missed episode 14 of House, one of the cases is a woman with endometriosis. Watch the full episode for free at Hulu. It's encouraging to see endometriosis receive exposure.  We hope to see more involvement in efforts to cure this condition as awareness is spread.

Endo Strikes on Dancing with the Stars

As many know, two of the professional dancers have reported that they have endometriosis: Julianne Hough and Lacey Schwimmer. Last season, Julianne had to miss two weeks of competitive dances when she had surgery to manage her endometriosis. The publicity surrounding her absence prompted her to speak candidly to her fans and the rest of the DWTS audience about the condition, making her one of the first public figures to do so. Lacey has said that she probably would not have gone to a doctor about her pain if Julianne hadn't described similar symptoms being associated with her endometriosis.

Famous TV Host Supports Endometriosis Awareness

Padma Lakshmi, a talented actress/model/author/food expert/reality show host, is a co-founder of the Endometriosis Foundation of America. This non-profit organization is working on several projects to raise awareness about endometriosis in the general community, educate doctors about the condition, and provide funding for current research. The organization recently hosted its first annual Blossom Ball in New York City on April 20th.

Did You Know…

Marilyn Monroe, the gorgeous movie star of the 50s voted 'sexiest woman of the century' by People magazine in 1999, also suffered from endometriosis. Just goes to show that this debilitating condition doesn't discriminate, and all the fame and fortune in the world doesn't provide much relief from endometriosis. It's important that we continue the search for a cure so that all women are able to pursue their dreams without interference from this condition.
